Finding Work

Keep Systems Inc. have strived to find sites to suit everyone's interests. The information and links sections are updated constantly and the resources on the site will help prepare you for the job search. We work at making the site interesting, to keep you coming back regularly to find out what's new. We welcome you to the site and wish you luck with your job search.

Most people check out the big Employment Super Sites. But, they are not the only, or even always the best, place to look. Smaller, more focused sites can often be much more useful to you.

PREPARING FOR YOUR JOB SEARCH

Decide What You Want to Do

It's impossible to find a job if you don't know what you want to do. It is the first question you will be asked when you say that you are job hunting.

You won't spend all your time in front of your computer (or you shouldn't ), but you need to feel comfortable. It may increase your job market "value" and market competitiveness.

Network? What Is This: You've heard talking about 'network', and this is really important for you to understand. A network brings together multiple resources and makes them available to you.

More "heads" are definitely better than one - the old cliché is absolutely true, so don't do your job search in isolation. A solitary job search can be demoralizing, and it can also be more difficult because you'll only have access to what you find by yourself. Leverage the experience, expertise, and network of friends and colleagues, and don't forget to help others, too. You will all be more successful.

Friends, outplacement counselors, members of your church (or temple or where ever you practice your religion), former co-workers, your local government, your federal government, one of the independent job hunt support groups, career counselors, and/or a job search coach can help you enormously. They will help you find resources and contacts, keep your spirits up, give you ideas, help you explore you options, and give you a boot in the pants when you need one.

Check your local newspapers, your local state employment office.

If you have a list of specific employers that interest you (and, hopefully, you do!), go to their Web sites, if they have Web sites, and look for jobs posted there. The link to their jobs may be named "careers," "employment," "human resources," etc.

If you don't see anything obvious on the home page, try clicking on "About Us" (or a similar link) or the "Site Map" which should take you to a page that lists all the pages on the Web site. You can always look for a contact in the Human Resources department by clicking on a link named "Contact Us" or something similar.
